Kozhikode: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy visited the house of Methakudy Noushad, the 32- year-old auto driver from Malikadavu near here, who died after inhaling poisonous gas inside a manhole while trying to save two labourers from the pit. Consoling the family members of Noushad, who was the sole breadwinner of the family, CM assured financial help for the loss of their husband/son. After talking to the family of Noushad, the CM told media persons that it was the Government’s responsibility to provide financial assistance to the family and a Government job would be assured to Noushad’s wife considering her educational qualification. “We salute the braveheart of Noushad, who sacrificed his own life to save the life of others”, the CM said. Despite the warning from people gathered around the spot, Noushad went into the manhole, towards certain death, to save the life of people who were struggling inside the manhole. The labourers died too.
