NEW DELHI/ISLAMABAD: A powerful earthquake shook parts of India, Afghanistan and Pakistan on Sunday evening, officials and residents said.The tremors jolted buildings in the national capital and surrounding regions.
The quake was also felt in Srinagar and elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir besides Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
A strong earthquake was felt in many parts of Pakistan today, forcing people to flee their homes. Tremors were felts in Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar. The earthquake measured 6.8 on the Richter Scale.
According to Express Tribune, people rushed out of their homes in panic. No loss of life or property has been reported so far.
National Centre for Seismology said that the epicentre of earthquake is in Hindukush mountain range.
In October last year, over 200 people were killed as a strong earthquake jolted Pakistan and Afghanistan.
