Delhi Pollution: Big setback for Arvind Kejriwal, NGT questions Odd-Even scheme; big decision at today

Delhi: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Friday questioned the Delhi government’s rationale behind implementing the Odd Even vehicle rationing scheme from November 13 to 17. The NGT has also sought the data on old cars in Delhi.
Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot on Thursday said the odd-even car rationing scheme will be enforced in Delhi for a five-day period from November 13-17.
Under the Odd-Even formula, vehicles with the registration number ending with an even number are allowed on roads on an even date while those ending with an odd number are allowed on odd dates.
The formula was first implemented for 15 days in January, 2016, and again in April, 2016. A study showed that Delhi’s odd-even scheme had little impact on air pollution.
Delhi government is under fire from the NGT for failing to control air pollution in the city. A few days ago, the IMA also declared a public health emergency and cautioned people not to step out of their homes.
