Stock, commodity bourse will be converging under one roof

Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on Thursday approved convergence of stock and commodity bourse from October 2018, ET Now reported quoting agencies.

The union of stock and commodity bourse will help product cross-listing, according to sources.

The move will allow bourses like NSE and BSE to launch commodity products.

Shares of BSE were trading 0.88 per cent up at Rs 919 in the late afternoon trade, while MCX was down 0.34 per cent at Rs 940.

Convergence will help an individual to have one account to trade in all asset classes, market experts said.

According to sources, the market regulator in another key decision on Thursday also made it compulsory for the listed companies to disclose defaults to the exchanges within 24 hours. The prompt disclosure norm is likely to be effective from April 1, 2018. Disclosures will also cover defaults by preference shares.
