Caught red-handed

A former Flipkart delivery boy was arrested by the South-East district police on charges of robbing a two-wheeler.

The arrest was made after he failed to show the required documents regarding ownership of the vehicle.

According to the police, the accused Momin (20) on Monday was passing through the area of New Friends colony when he was intercepted at a police picket.

The police officials asked Momin, who was riding a Honda Activa with a Delhi licence plate, to stop for checking. Momin then tried to dodge the police but was later over-powered.

“We asked him to produce the relevant documents of the vehicle but he could not produce any documents for the scooter and kept giving one excuse after another. On conducting a search, a country made pistol along with live cartridges was recovered from his possession and a stolen mobile phone was recovered from his possession,” said Chinmoy Biswal, DCP, South-East.

Momin is a school dropout and has studied till Class 11. After dropping out of school he started working as a delivery boy for Flipkart for a brief period. He, along with his associate Ayan, planned to steal a scooty and also arranged for a pistol for carrying out robbery and snatching.

Ayan arranged a country made pistol and they both stole a scooty from the Jamia Nagar area. The duo had changed the licence plate and put a fake one on it.
