The first day first show of Superstar Rajinikanth’s Tamil movie ‘Kaala’ has been cancelled in Bengaluru due to protest by pro-Kannada activists.
The Mantri Mall and Orion Mall had scheduled to screen the movie after 10:30 am, where various pro-Kannada activists protested and demanded to cancel the screening.
Though the mall authorities had gone ahead to issue the tickets, the activists staged the protest in front of Mantri Mall and requested the authorities to stop the process. Fearing the outrage many single screens and multiplex theatres have cancelled the show.
Members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedhike (Praveen Shetty faction) were taken into custody by police near Orion mall.
However, hundreds of Rajinikanth fans who had come to watch the film were disappointed after the show was cancelled.
Talking to DH, pro-Kannada activist Rupesh Kumar said, “Few people have come here to watch the movie shamelessly. They don’t miss anything if they didn’t watch the movie. Rajinikanth should seek an open apology to Kannadigas and Karnataka after which we will allow the screening.”
Members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedhike (Praveen Shetty faction) and Kannada Chaluvali Paksha chief Vatal Nagaraj were taken into custody by police from the front of Orion Mall in Rajajinagar.
