PM Modi to hold 3rd video conferencing with CMs as tally nears 27,000

India on Sunday recorded its highest one-day spike in cases as 1,975 cases were registered taking the total cases in the country to 26,917.

Out of the total confirmed cases 20,177 are still active while 5913 have been discharged. 826 deaths have been reported till date.

PM Modi will be holding his third-round of video interactions with Chief Ministers today which is likely to focus on a graded exit from the 40-day lockdown.

In his monthly ‘Mann ki Baat’ broadcast on Sunday, Modi said the country is in the middle of a ‘yudh’ (war) and asserted people have to continue being careful and take precautions.

Health Minister Harsh Vardhan asserted that the coronavirus situation in the country is improving as many hotspot districts are moving towards becoming non-hotspots. The mortality rate in COVID-19 patients in India is 3.1 per cent as compared to 7 per cent globally, he said.
