KOLLAM: Marking the end of a decades-long wait and persistent traffic woes, the Eravipuram Railway Overbridge (ROB) was officially dedicated to the state. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the bridge via video conferencing, hailing it as a milestone in the infrastructure development of Kollam.
A ₹38.21 Crore Leap in Infrastructure
The state-of-the-art overbridge was completed with a total investment of ₹38.21 crore. The project reflects meticulous planning across several sectors:
Land Acquisition: ₹10,04,02,248
Construction Works: ₹20,54,99,817.60
Utility Shifting (KSEB & Water Authority): ₹86,88,529
Railway Contribution: ₹6.75 Crore
Distinguished Presence at the Ceremony
The ceremony was presided over by the Hon. Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, Smt. J. Chinchu Rani. Other prominent attendees included cpm District secretary S Jayamohan Eravipuram MLA M. Noushad, Kollam Mayor A.K. Hafeez, and Local representatives and cultural leaders also joined a large gathering of citizens to witness the historic moment.
An End to Traffic Gridlocks
The inauguration brings much-needed relief to commuters who previously faced hours of delay at the railway level crossing. By providing seamless connectivity between the coastal belt and the city center, the bridge is expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy and trade. Travel through Eravipuram is now set to be faster, safer, and more efficient.
