BBMP starts demolition drive

BENGALURU: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP)  on Tuesday restarted its drive to remove encroachments on stormwater drains. Demolition work was halted after Section 144 was enforced by the city police commissioner due to Cauvery protests. Also, BBMP authorities did not have sufficient policemen as they were deployed as part of precautionary measure to control riots during the water dispute. BBMP authorities conducted the demolition drive at Yelahanka, Bommanahalli and Mahadevapura among other zones. On Tuesday, the civic agency cleared 17 vacant sites and four buildings.
