Arvind Kejriwal demands BJP should be asked to return the money spent

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday demanded that BJP should be asked to return the Rs 3,775 crore it spent on advertisements, like AAP was ordered in March this year by the Delhi LG to payback the Rs 97 crore it spent on its publicity.

In March this year, Delhi LG Anil Baijal had directed to recover Rs 97 crore from AAP that was allegedly “splurged” by the city government on advertisements in violation of the Supreme Court guidelines.
So when an RTI query revealed that BJP-led central government has spent Rs 3,775 crore on advertisements for its publicity, Kejriwal demanded that a similar order should be passed for the BJP as well.

On Friday, an RTI application- filed by a Greater Noida-based social activist Ramveer Tanwar- revealed that the government had spent nearly Rs 3,775 crore in three and half years on its publicity till October this year, according to a report in IANS.
The expenditure on advertisements from April 2014 to October 2017 through electronic, print media and outdoor publicity is Rs 37,54,06,23,616, according to the RTI reply by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
