Man wanted for beheading nabbed

The Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has arrested a wanted criminal, who had chopped off the head of a youth and dumped the body in fields of the Siraspur village in September this year. Police said the murderer, who also carried a cash reward on his arrest, had killed the man after suspecting him of having an affair with his wife.

The accused has been identified as Dhiresh Narayan, 22, a resident of Siraspur in Delhi. Police said on September 11, the culprit and his friends chopped off the head of the victim. A reward of Rs 20,000 had been declared by the Delhi Police on his arrest.

DCP (crime) Joy Tirkey said: “Following an intense probe, the police team zeroed in on Narayan, and following a tip-off, he was apprehended from the Mukarba Chowk in Delhi, while he was waiting at a bus stand to board a bus to Punjab. On sustained interrogation, he admitted to his involvement in the gruesome crime and said he suspected that the victim, Ansari, was having an affair with his wife.”

The DCP further said that Narayan spoke to Ansari about the relationship but when the latter refused to end it despite promising to keep away, Narayan started plotting his revenge. “He roped in his friends — Suman, Rahul, Gulab Singh, and a juvenile — for the act. On the intervening night of September 10 and 11, Narayan managed to lure Ansari to an isolated spot in Siraspur, where all five assaulted Ansari and then Narayan beheaded him,” the DCP said.

While Rahul, Gulab Singh, and the juvenile were already apprehended by the local police, Narayan and his associate Suman had gone absconding. Efforts are now on to trace Suman, who is still at large.
