Delhi Police has rescued a month-old baby boy who had been kidnapped by his relatives from his residence in December last year. Two men involved in the kidnapping have been arrested while others who were involved are being identified.
The two men who have been arrested were identified as 28 and 22-year-old and resided in Sahibabad and Shastri Park, respectively. The police did not reveal their names to keep their identities undisclosed as they said that more arrests are yet to be made.
Police said that it was on December 12, when information was received at Jahangirpuri police station in northwest Delhi reported the kidnapping of a 12-day-old baby boy, from his residence in H-2 Block.
“The father of the baby alleged that he and his wife were sleeping on the second floor of their house, along with his brother-in-law and his wife, in the same room. When he woke up at about 9:30 am, his newborn baby boy was missing from the room,” said Aslam Khan, DCP northwest.
A police team then got the scene of crime thoroughly inspected and the dog squad was also called in. On the basis of evidences gathered from the spot, it appeared to be an insider job, the officer said.
She added that a number of teams were assigned the task of developing information about the persons who might be behind the kidnapping among the relatives.
“Call details of several persons were analysed. The exercise led to increased suspicion on the involvement of close relatives of the kidnapped baby. Accordingly, surveillance was mounted on the movement of the main suspects and finally, probe led to the recovery of the kidnapped baby from Saeed Nagar, a locality of Sahibabad in Ghaziabad. Two accused were also arrested,” the DCP said.
