2018 IPL, RCB vs RR: Rajasthan beat RCB by 19 runs to win the royal battle

Bengaluru: Rajasthan Royals (RR) picked up their second Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 win after beating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 30 runs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

After the hosts won the toss and opted to field, RR posted a massive 217 on board thanks to Sanju Samson’s thrilling 92-run knock.

During the chase, RCB lost Brendon McCullum early on but from there on Virat Kohli and Quinton de Kock steered the innings.

D’Arcy Short broke the partnership by dismissing the South African batsman and then Shreyas Gopal piled further pressure with wickets of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.

The visitors never let RCB get back into the game and cruised to an easy victory in the end.

RCB 134-5 after 15 overs:

With Kohli and de Villiers back in the pavillion thematch seems to be out of reach for RCB and Rajasthan are well on course to their second victory of the season. Can Sundar and Mandeep turn it around for RCB.

After losing McCullum early, skipper Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock counter attacked Rajasthan bowlers as the duo unsettled the bowlers.

Sanju Samson was the star of the Rajasthan innings as he played solid knock of 92 runs of 45 balls to help Rajasthan Royals post a massive 217 runs on board.

The Kerala youngster hit 10 sixes and 2 boundaries as RCB bowlers failed to contain the right hander in the final five overs of the match. Samson’s insane knock helped RR score 75 runs of the last 4 overs.

After been sent into bat openers Rahane and D Arcy SHort failed to get going with the bat. Ben Stokes also saw his innings cut short by Yuzvendra Chahal as he dragged the ball back onto the stumps.

While Samson went on rampage in the final over’s , he found able partner in form of Jos Buttler (23 runs of 14 balls) and Rahul Tripathy (14 runs of 5 balls) as he registered the highest score of the tournament and also laid his hands on orange cap.

RR 217-4 after 20 overs:
