NCP, Congress rely on trusted netas to garner votes

The Nationalist Congress Party released their star campaigners list on Saturday for Maharashtra state assembly polls. The NCP pinned their hope on their senior leaders like Ajit Pawar, Praful Patel, actor-turned-politician Amol Kolhe and social activist Sushma Andhare and Pradeep Salunkhe to garner the votes for assembly polls.

The NCP star campaigners’ list also added 40 leaders. In this list, the firebrand NCP leaders Ajit Pawar, Chhagan Bhujbal, Dhananjay Munde, Supriya Sule, Nawab Malik and Jitendra Awhad are included as their star campaigners .

“We have submitted our star campaigner list to the Election Commission (EC). We will design the programme for all these campaigners and they will campaign against the incumbent government and their anti-people policies. There are very few days left for voting which is scheduled for October 21. But we will try and reach out to all voters who want to dethrone the current government,” said NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik.

Interestingly, the Congress party also released its star campaigner list which starts with Congress president Rahul Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Priyanka Gandhi to Bollywood star Shatrughan Sinha. While two former journalist-turned-politician Kumar Ketkar and Madhukar Bhave’s names have also featured in the Congress star campaigners’ list.

“In 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Rahul Gandhi was in demand for carrying out campaigns, but in state polls, we were requesting Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. If both can campaign, then it will surely generate some positive atmosphere in favour of Congress party,” said a senior Congress leader.
