Almost a month after a female constable committed suicide at her residence in Bhoiwada after her boyfriend refused to marry her, the boyfriend, son of a policeman Mukesh Borge, 25, also committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence on New Year’s Eve.
Manju Gaikwad a 22-year-old lady constable was posted at Naigaon Local Arms(LA) unit. She had committed suicide by hanging at her own residence on November 28. She was in a relationship with Borge since the past four years. However, Borge had refused to marry her, due to which the woman took the extreme step and killed herself. The Bhoiwada police then had registered a case against Borge, for abettment of suicide after Gaikwad’s sister had lodged the complaint.
“Borge had secured Anticipatory bail from the court and was presenting himself before the police on regular basis. However, on Sunday he hanged himself. We have registered an accidental death report in the matter and are probing it further,” said a police officer from Bhoiwada police station.
